Some children have great potential, but repeatedly encounter limitations in everyday school life. They display challenging behavior, have difficulty following rules, or are unable to translate their abilities into learning success. This is often accompanied by tensions at home and in the relationship between parents and children. This is precisely where the concept of family class
Offered since 2011 familie gGmbH in close cooperation with Berlin primary schools, offers this special program. The family class supports children and their parents in Overcoming learning and behavioral blocksNew to have bonding experiences and find the way back to a successful school day.
Goal of the family class
The aim of the family class is to support children who, despite good intellectual prerequisites, do not achieve stable learning success or stand out in social interactions. The focus is not only on academic performance, but also on:
- credentials for Strengthening the parent-child relationship,
- credentials for Promoting social skills,
- is Dealing with rules and boundaries,
- as well as the development of Motivation, trust and self-efficacy.
How does the family class work?
In a fixed group of a maximum of eight students, the children take once a week together with a parent participate in classes in a specially equipped classroom within the school. Classes are taught by a teacher from the respective school, regardless of the grade level.
The group is accompanied by an experienced Multi-family trainer who keeps an eye on the development of each individual child and at the same time interactive work with the entire group The focus is not on the evaluation of performance, but on the Learning together.
Strengthening through cooperation
A central element of the family class is the active role of parents: They are not just companions their children in class, but also learning partners, role models, and supporters. In the group Parents support each other, exchange ideas and learn that they are not alone with their challenges.
The families learn:
- to treat each other with respect,
- Respecting differences,
- to test new forms of communication,
- and together to develop new solutions.

- Hunsrück Primary School
- Konrad Agahd Elementary School
- Jens Nydahl Elementary School
The cooperation with the schools is closely coordinated – so school and family issues can be processed holistically .
